Dyson Ball Multi Floor Review – formerly known as the DC39, is a canister vacuum is fitted with the Dyson patented cyclone technology. The bin is reusable, it does not need any bags to replace therefore you save time and money and you can clean the house quicker. Like the name itself suggests, the machine features an adjustable head that removes dust particles from various floor types. The best thing about this Dyson is that the designers managed to reduce the noise level so that it works silently and saves you the irritating whine most other hoovers produce.
Dyson DC39 Ball ReviewDyson always seeks perfection with every detail of their inventions. The Ball Multi Floor is no different – the managed to create not only powerful and efficient but slick looking and stylish vacuum cleaner. The silver and the yellow color palette is a nice touch too. The Dyson DC39 Multi Floor is equipped with a comfortable handle and a cleaning wand which will ease going around stairs and corners.
This canister hoover measures 358mm by 511mm by 261mm and weighs 7.3kg. The vacuum is very compact as the ball itself houses all the key components, including electronics, the motor, the filter and a 6.5m long power cable. The cleaning radius is 10.5m in total. The DC39 has a low center of gravity to help with stability and reduce the chance of tipping over when dragging it around corners and furniture. The Ball mechanism allows the machine to twist and turn around corners and awkward places without flipping.
The DC39 is equipped with a HEPA filtration system that captures every single microscopic dust particle and allergen. If you have asthma or any allergies the Ball Multi Floor is highly recommended. See, most regular vacuum cleaners collect dust and debris in paper or plastic bags that require regular cleaning and disposing of. They clog up more often than not and the cleaning process usually makes a big mess and spreads dust and allergens everywhere. You will also have to clean them with bare hands from time to time while the Dyson Ball canister empties easily with a push of a button – no mess anywhere and the garbage goes straight into the bin.
The DC39 does not use any bags but a root radial cyclone technology that increases suction power by spinning air at exceptionally high speed without loss of cleaning power during cleaning. The suction power of this beast is 257 air watts, by the way, which makes it one of the most powerful vacuum cleaners on the market today. The main downside is that it can be a bit of a challenge to clean up larger debris such as a dog or cat food, for example.
The bin volume is exactly 2 liters and it is a bit more than the capacity of other Dyson vacuums. Once the canister is full, just take it off of the vacuum’s body and bring it to the trash bin. After you have done this, push the button on the top, and the canister door will open releasing the dust right into the bin.
Multi Floor Attachments
This hoover comes with a stair tool and a combination tool, which you can use to vacuum around furniture, tight corners, stairs and even curtains to. Moreover, there is a trigger head that has a rotating brush bar which spins rapidly to pick up dirt off your carpets. In case you do not want to damage rugs or hardwood floors with the brush bar, just push the button on the handle to turn it off, without even bending down. Now the brush will stop spinning but the suction will remain powerful and efficient. Since the vacuum is a Multi-Floor model it features a dual mode floor tool, which adjusts itself to remove dust and dirt from various types of floors – from hardwood and stone to various types of carpets and rugs.
DC39 Sound Level
As we mentioned in the beginning, Dyson has put a great deal of work to reduce the typical whine and noise that ordinary vacuum cleaners produce. They minimized the annoyance with the help of sound-dampening mounts and insulating materials. Now when you clean you will not annoy your family members or your neighbors. Even the cat will calm and nice too! The actual sound level is 83 dB which is quite loud, but there is this softness to the sound – not the usual wine of regular hoovers.
The price of the Dyson Ball Multi-Floor vacuum might seem a bit expensive, especially when compared to cheap hoovers with paper dust bags. Keep in mind that there are no filters to wash or bags to replace, it has allergen reducing features and the price is actually one of the lowest within the Dyson range.
Review VerdictThe DC39 Multi-Floor canister hoover is an effective and а reliable machine. It has a total of 5 years warranty and does not need any maintenance or replaceable bags. It has HEPA filtration to help people with allergies. The suction power is amongst the best in class – a whole 257 air watts and it does not lose suction power when the bin gets full either.
It has the cool looks of an advanced alien robot and the color palette of gray and yellow looks very slick and stylish. The ball mechanism holds all the important parts of the vacuum and it also keeps it stable and reduces the chance of tipping over during cleaning. Even around corners and chairs the ball keeps the DC39 upward and going. The 83 dB might sound a bit high but it actually isn’t annoying at all – it has that muffled quality to it.
On the other hand, if you are a pet owner the Multi Floor might not be the best option for you. I’d suggest taking a look at some of the Animal versions Dyson has. They have more animal specific tools and attachments to tackle pet hair and prevent the said hair from tangling all over the cleaning heads. For example, the V8 Animal is an amazing cordless cleaner with a somewhat similar price tag.
Overall it is a solid performer and we thoroughly think it deserves its place on the best Dyson vacuum list.
