V8 Absolute is the newest member of Dyson’s cordless vacuum cleaners family. made by the British company. It has outdone all of Dyson’s previous V6 vacuum series providing every househusband with an alternative to upright and corded hoovers. Dyson company claims that the battery life of their latest cordless vacuum can last up to 40 minutes – enough to clean the entire house and more. That is twice the battery life of all existing V6 models and it can only compete with the newly released V7 model.
The company´s new device is comparatively light and compact but pretty attractive, too. You may say that the V6 and the V8 are pretty alike; however, the latter has made a lot of progress over the existing model. The battery pack of the V8 has a much higher capacity. The bin volume has been increased (V6 Absolute-0.4L, V8-0.54L), and the rear twist-to-remove filter is a bit bigger. The old version measures 250mm x 1268mm x 208mm, and the new version’s dimensions are 250 x 1244 x 224mm. The old one weighs 2.7kg, and the new one – only 2.61kg. Dyson engineers have made a good choice by putting the handle and trigger of the new model in the same place (between the motor housing and battery pack), ensuring a comfortable grip.
The most significant improvement of the V8 is in the way you empty the bin. The slide clip on the V6 released the base of the canister, but debris like hair needed some help to fall out. Sometimes they would get stuck and you would have to manually reach inside the container and pull them out. Fortunately, that’s not the case anymore with the updated hoover. The V8 Absolute’s top clip allows the top mechanism to pull up and away from the bin while at the same time the base flap opens.
Dyson’s system for attaching and detaching tools is quick and easy. Just push the button and slide the current attachment apart and then snap the next into place. You go from a handhelds vacuum to a stick vacuum in an instant. In spite of weighing only 2.7kg, cleaning a whole house with the V8 may be comparable to a handgrip exercise in the gym. The key here is to relax your grip and let the head on the floor take the weight, but it is something you have to get used to.
As opposed to the all-over vents of the previous model, the new V8 rear exhaust filter possesses a larger body and side vents. Due to the fact that the exhaust air on the V8 is directed in two jets, unlike on the old vacuums, the dust will not spread into the room. The high-efficiency filtration makes it possible to capture particles down to as small as 0.3 microns, thus leaving the air in your room cleaner than ever before.

V8 Absolute Battery life
Dyson’s engineers have done extremely well with the Dyson V6 battery (20 minutes of runtime), but that wasn’t nearly enough for them. The battery capacity of the Dyson V8 Absolute has been doubled and it can manage up to 40 minutes of continuous running time. means that you would have to charge the vacuum cleaner far less frequently.
Dyson Absolute Cleaning Power
You do not have to worry about losing suction power when the battery level drops. The V8 doesn’t lose power when the battery is low – you can keep going all the way till it depletes completely. The bin doesn’t affect suction power either regardless whether it is full or empty. The new Cyclone technology redirects the exhaust air more efficiently so nib fulness doesn’t affect cleaning performance.
The air watts, an artificial sucking power measure that vacuum cleaner manufacturers use to compare different models, has been increased from 100 air watts in the V6 to the mighty 115 air watts in the V8. The new Absolute seems lighter too – it requires less pressure exerted towards the floor during cleaning. In our tests, the V8 managed to clean a pretty serious dust spillage in one go versus the V6 that required a second run to lift it all up.
Absolute Tools And Accessories
The two vacuum cleaners both come with a mini motorized tool, combination tool, direct drive cleaner head, and rigid crevice tool, giving you the opportunity to clean everything that pops into your head. With the Direct Drive head, you will be unstoppable on carpets. Don’t miss any difficult-to-reach dirty spot on the ceiling or around corners on the floor with the help of the rigid crevice tool and the combination tool. The mini motorized tool is there to remove all pet hair from your beloved sofa. A nice touch is the docking station, which charges and stores the vacuum and its accessories. Finally, the V6 and V8 both can transform into handhelds for easy car cleaning too.
The difference between the two lies in that the V6 Absolute comes with a hard floor cleaner head, while the V8 has an included soft roller cleaner head instead. The V8 head’s cleaning roller is covered in soft woven nylon, with rows of anti-static carbon fibre filaments, which allows fine dust and large debris to be captured simultaneously.
V8 Sound Levels
The sound it produces seems a little bit quieter than that of the old V6. However, after having been put through several tests, they showed similar levels – around 75dB on standard power and 83dB on max. The V6 has more of a loud whine, while the noise of the V8’s extremely fast digital motor is less adverse to the ear.
Dyson V8 Absolute Review ConclusionThe main disadvantage of the V8 Absolute is the rather high price. The V8 is significantly more expensive than the V6 for the obvious reasons – larger battery, bigger bin, lighter weight more cleaning power. Moreover, if you are a pet owner and animal hair is all over the house, the bin is going to get full long before the battery runs out of charge. This isn’t something you can strongly regard as a downside because with the easy bin emptying you will be ready to go again in no time.
Putting this aside, both the V6 and the V8 Absolute are flexible and convenient vacuum cleaners. The old model, however, can’t really put up a fight with the new one – it would simply not manage to vacuum as long and as efficient as the incredible V8. I think that the V8 is the clear winner and if you have the budget for it I would say, by any means, go for it!
If you don’t really like or need the V8 Absolute with all its bells and whistles, the V8 Animal is a great choice for people who have to deal with pet hair. It is much more powerful than the V6 Animal, for example, and has all the benefits of the V8 series over the V6 series.
